There are many antiseptic drugs that are prescribed by many physicians around the world to cure backaches. At first it might seem to help you out but eventually it becomes a habit and these drugs then no longer effect you. These drugs slowly adapt themselves to your system and may actually perpetuate the disease in case of unnecessary intake.

People, who are in jobs that make them sit for long hours in one position, need certain safety measures to get relief from backaches. There are some important exercises which in particular increase the supply of blood and other nutrients to the spinal cord which in turns delays the process of deterioration that comes with age and eventually affects the general health of the body. Some very common exercises to keep one self healthy and fit are walking, swimming and bicycling. Following these methods can avoid problems like backache.

Those with sitting occupations and almost inactive lifestyle should keep a check on their daily activity which is important. They should schedule a break and take a walk every one hour or so. Spongy pillow seats should be shunned and the sitting position should be changed as often as possible. People with back problems should try to sleep on some firm mattress on their sides.
Backache starts from the tension that slowly develops in the neck. It is caused due to the sitting positions which are arising from long hours at the desk or behind the wheel of the car can be relieved by certain neck exercises. You can follow simple exercises like revolving the head clockwise and anticlockwise, permit the head to drop forward and backward, stretch your neck muscles as long as possible after every 1 hour or so or may be more These exercises help to loosen up contracted neck muscles which may restrict the blood supply to the head.

The diet of those suffering from backache should consist of a salad of raw vegetables such as tomato, carrot, cabbage, cucumber, radish, lettuce and at least two steamed or lightly cooked vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, carrot, spinach and plenty of fruits, all except bananas.

The patients suffering from acute backaches should make up a meal chart. They should have four meals daily which must include fruits and milk in their breakfast sessions, take a whole some diet of steamed vegetables and whole wheat chapattis in the lunch time, fresh fruits in the evening snacks meal and a bowl of raw salad and sprouts during dinner.

The patients should avoid fatty, spicy, and fried foods, curd, sweetmeats, sugar, condiments as well as tea and coffee. Those who smoke and take tobacco in any form should give them up completely. Proteins and vitamin C are necessary for the development of a healthy bone metrix. Vitamin D, calcium, phosphorous and the essential trace minerals are essential for healthy bones. Foods that have been processed for storage to avoid spoiling have few nutrients and should be eliminated from the diet. Vitamin C has proved helpful in relieving low-back pain and averting spinal disc operations.

In extreme cases where patients are suffering from acute pain then taking hot fomentations, along with alternate sponging or application of radiant heat to the back can also provide fast and immediate relief. Apart from these a regular yogic routine will also help in the treatment of backache. The different asanas for curing backache are the bhujangasana, shalabhasana, halasana, uttanpadasana and shavasana.

Alternatively the back pain problem can be reduced and finally diminished by a proper nutrition, exercise and relaxation and in the process general health will also improve.
