What is Acid Reflux or GERD

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a stage in which the esophagus becomes irritated or inflamed because of acid backing up from the stomach.Acid reflux is most often recognized by its symptom of “heartburn” which affects 1 out of every 10 adults .

Causes Of GERD

  1. Obesity is common cause of GERD.
  2. Esophagus contraction,Hiatal hernias & lower esophageal sphinter.
  3. Refined and fibreless food is the main cause of acidity.
  4. Use of alcohol or cigarettes.
  5. Eating fatty meal soon before bedtime.

Symtoms of GERD

  1. Heartburn is sometimes reffered to GERD.Not everyone who suffered with GERD has heartburn.
  2. Regurgitation of bitter acid up into the throat while bending over.
  3. Some uncommon may occurs like dry cough,chest pain.
  4. Asthma symtoms can sometimes be due to acid reflux.
  5. Sometimes Nausea may occur during GERD.

Home Remedies For GERD

  1. Sucking of cloves(1-2) give relief from GERD.
  2. Take one teaspoon of Apple Cidar Vinegar with one teaspoon of Honey before bedtime will give relief in GERD.
  3. Taking of Gingerroot Helps in relief from acidity.
  4. The aromatic herbs, such as catnip and fennel, are also reputed to be good for heartburn
  5. Intake of mint leaves(5-10) daily relief from acidity.
