According to Ayurveda, the legendry medicine system of herbs maintains that there are four basic components to a healthy and balanced living. They are having good eating habits, taking enough sleep and daily exercise and meditation.

Eating the right kind and right quantity is very important for a healthy living.

Food has been classified as herbs, vegetables, fruits, and weeds. Long before, during the 17th century, cabbage and carrots were classified as herbs. Even marigolds and marjoram were also known as herbs.

Dandelion or medically known as Taraxacum officinalis is one of the best known common weeds that are grown in lawns and is a good liver tonic. All parts of this herb are beneficial. The roots, stems, leaves and its flowers are made into medicines like tinctures, vinegars, and infusions. It can also be tried as a salad dressing or can be taken up with a warm glass of water. It nourishes the liver and deletes any kind of motion sickness, constipation and indigestion. It creates a mood balance and helps those who suffer from mood swings.

The next herb in category is the aromatic seeds of the “carrot family” of plants. These are used around the world for their medicinal properties to aid a healthy living. It eases your indigestion and freshens your breath. You can add it up with a teaspoonful f honey and consume it daily with a glass of warm water to experience the wonderful effects of these herbs.

Ginger comes to your help when you are suffering from suppressing nausea or morning sickness. There is no better herb to cure these problems. Even if you use dried ginger roots herb, it does a curing effect by soothing your belly and relieving those queasy feelings. In addition to this, ginger roots helps in curing morning sickness, prevents constipation problems during pregnancy, and keeps the pelvic muscles toned. People, mainly females who suffer from cramps and gas problems should be encouraged to take ginger juice with honey. It encourages the secretion of digestive enzymes, lowers blood pressure, and restores vitality.

Nettle leaves are also a well known medicinal herb which prevents blockage and hemorrhoids, if taken regular. Although the amounts are small that can be included in the daily diet but it definitely helps cure the cramps and backaches. A simple cup tea made out of nettle leaves supplies amazing amounts of energy as well as huge amounts of calcium, magnesium and vitamins A, D, C, B, and K. nettle leaves can be dried and taken up with tea or they can also be crushed to take out small quantities of juice which can be taken up a tea spoonful of homey and warm water. It averts anemia and iron deficiency. Helps in proper digestion and acts as a strengthener to the lungs, also maintains the proper functioning of the kidneys, and acts as a curative to the hair and skin.

Calcium is an important constituent found in some herbs that can be taken up in daily routine. As well know that calcium is important both for children and grown ups, one must take care to keep a consistent input of calcium. There are many wild herbs that are rich in calcium content and other salts as well. For example, the leaves of lamb’s quarters, mallow, galinsoga, shepherd’s purse, knotweed, bidens, amaranth, or dandelion, when cooked until tender, supply more calcium per half-cup serving than a half-cup of milk.

In order to avoid calcium assimilation in your body, try to avoid stress, use of antacids, consumption of coffee, use of steroids, drinking fluoridated water, and too much phosphorous in your diet.
